Other miscellaneous explanatory notes:

We continue to receive injured or ill animals from the owners for the purpose of euthanasia. In some cases, the veterinary has referred the owners to us if they cannot afford veterinary services (treatment or euthanasia). These animals are included in the owner-surrendered column and euthanasia column.

In 2018, we received the following animals from residents of Pittsylvania County:
215 dogs, 269 cats, 39 small companion animals, and 3 livestock animals, for a total of 526 animals received.
